Don't Miss this Spectacular Lightshow in Bern

Once a year, a spectacular lightshow is displayed on the facade of the Federal Palace of Switzerland in the Swiss capital Bern. It is called "Rendez-vous Bundesplatz" and runs for one month in autumn.

Each year, the lightshow has a different theme. Last year it was "Gem of the Mountain," where the Matterhorn came alive and spoke to the crowd. In previous years, it was the story of a princess and her castle—this was the first "Rendez-vous Bundesplatz" I ever attended and definitely one of my favorites.

This year, the theme will be "Tutti Fratelli", but that's the only teaser we get. We must attend the lightshow to learn more. After its debut, I will feature it on the blog with accompanying photos.

Watching the Federal Palace of Switzerland transform into different scenes and accompanied by music is simply a magical experience.

While the narrative is in German, it's possible to enjoy the show, no matter what language you speak. That's because the show is so visually compelling with colorful scenes that burst into life and tell a story of their own.

Typically, I attend the show that is later in the evening. Once the sun has fully set, I find the scenes are better illuminated on the building.

I also like to arrive early so I can grab a glass of mulled wine, which is typically sold at the event. Then I find a perfect spot for viewing and huddle for warmth with a loved one.
